Stone Chain Hurricane Chasers and Philodendron Amazonia
One of  the developing series is called the Hurricane Chasers. These are hanging sculptures designed or narrow spaces which no other art works could fit. In architectural spaces, there are always locations by front doorways, alongside fireplaces, gardens and in stairwells where tall  hanging sculptures really work. The name comes from the concept that these durable sculptures can survive hurricane force winds. They are based upon natural stone wrapped in heat-formed steel reinforcing rod.
A series of these stones and twisted steel reinforcing rod are hooked together to form a STONE CHAIN Hurricane Chaser hanging sculpture. I have found it necessary to make them modular to facilitate installation and transport. S-hooks join the separate elements.
These pieces are fun to build because it is always a challenge to capture natural stones and each component is different. Since there is some variety, they are interesting to fabricate. There is not a straight rod in any of the components. The 'flowers' are plasma cut steel circular saw blades.

I have been fortunate to be able to display these larger sculptures in a gallery space with ceilings high enough to properly hand the work. Please check with
