The Scubapro Safari
This is a very elegant wooden gun which was presented to 'Big Jim' Christiansen by Scubapro. I have had the privilege to photograph this very special speargun. The Safari was a premier bluewater speargun. It was a predecessor to their 'Panther'. Made from very fine wood and excellent craftsmanship this gun is like a glowing jewel in the sunlight. It sparkles as if it had just been made.

This fine gun was specially made with polymeric pearl inlays in the shape of game fish. Tuna, marlin, white seabass, yellowtail and barracuda decorate the gunbody. There is a brass plaque which has the words engraved upon it, "Custom Built for Jim Christiansen - Scubapro".  Big Jim is no longer with us, but this gun is an appreciative tribute to his spearfishing achievements and enthusiastic personality. A man who truely loved the sea.

This gun exhibits a fine level of design and craftsmanship. The mechanism is of  Wally Potts design and clearcut similarities can be seen with the 'Vintage Long Gun' at http://rocknfish.com/VinLong.html
