New Work from the Festival of Arts Collection 2005
In the spring of 2005, I approached
my work for the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts exhibit a little
differently. My intentions were to 'grow' artistically rather than just
use the exhibit as a store front. After being an exhibitor at
this institutionalized show for 15 years, I have learned that it is of
utmost importance to show NEW
work. The visiting art patrons enjoy seeing fresh work, not the same
old material that they saw the previous year. The Festival is a jurried
show and our work is evaluated during the course of the summer. It is
also critically important to have NEW
GOOD WORK which will appeal to the judges. There is plenty of
competition and we cannot be complacent in the preperation for the
upcoming show. We have to do the best possible.

Everything in my display was new at the beginning of 2005. As seen from
left to right are the 'Kelp Forest', 'Kelp Strand', 'Large Snapper',
'Trigger Fish' and the 'Bong Fish'. As the show progressed I made
several sales and was able to replace a few of the rockfish sculptures
with new ones.

The Bocaccio rockfish sculpture was popular and I have several requests
for similar pieces.

The Sierra Mackerel rockfish sculpture was one of the smallest pieces .
It had brass and patinated copper spots.

This piece is a Large Triggerfish (with wheels). It's overall length is
44", height 24", width 24" (at wings) and weight of 75 lb. It is
a fairly substantial example of a rockfish sculpture.

Thanks for viewing the production for this summer at the Laguna Beach
Festival of Arts. It is a great place to see good art.
