Barracuda Sculpture
As a variation on the
Rockfish Sculpture theme is the Barracuda sculpture. It is cut from
steel plate and painted with automotive paints. The panel in the center
of the fish's body is made from glass marbles. Their transparency adds
an interesting optical coloration to the sculpture.

The glass marbles are different transparent colors. They
provide a method by which permanent coloration can be added to the
piece. This sculpture has been painted with PPG automotive urethane
coatings to impart some degree of weather resistance. Any steel can
eventually rust where it is exposed to air and moisture. Although
fairly durable and designed for exterior use, my recommendation is to
keep the sculpture in a protected environment.

The bright colors of the transparent marbles show up well when the
piece is backlit. It suggests application with lighting source.
